D Day — the day on which the Allied forces invaded France during World War II — resulted in the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany, in its effort to control all of Europe and indeed the world. Many Allied troops were killed on D Day (June 6, 1944) and for several days thereafter, as they freed France from Nazi Germany. Americans must never forget the fighting of our fearless troops on D Day — and during World War II in general — because that fighting was significant in helping us to maintain our freedom.
